I have chills because that woman was me and I Am the Messenger was *exactly* the book I was looking for! And you're right, I never would have found it without Maile 💛

I’m itching to get to the bookstore for real and just be with you and Maile and chat about all the things (and peek behind the counter!). What a gift to see The Way of Belonging on this week’s list, and paired with The Understory?! Shoot. Perfection. Thank you. 🫶🏽

I am just so stinking happy for you two to get to pursue your dream like this and dive in so completely. Living in a truck as a minimalist nomad, I don't have much room for physical books in my life, but I am trying to figure out a way that I could create a portable "little free library" for the fellow nomads (and locals!) we encounter on our path. If I can somehow find room for a small box of books, and make a little sign . . .

I love bookstores because the people who work there love books. Maybe that's a "duh" statement, but walking into a bookstore anywhere in the world is like finding a friend. I love the moment when I hold a book in my hands and place it on the counter and the bookstore clerk has a comment about it or the author. Indie bookstores are havens for readers, as are libraries. There is just something so comforting about being surrounded by books.

When my high schooler added Millersville University to his list of college tours, I was thrilled because it meant we could stop by your beautiful store! I popped in a couple of weeks ago and had such a nice chat with Maile after her conversation with two younger girls about John Green. You don’t get that kind of personalized interaction at Amazon. I was so impressed with your selection of books, and I am so happy I had the opportunity to visit. Independent bookstores are the best!

I love that you now own a bookstore. I managed a very small one in the PAC NW for three years and it was marvelous. I look forward to reading more posts.
