I'm with you on the Irish writers! Colm Toibin is another favorite for me (I loved Brooklyn; also enjoyed The Master and Nora Webster; Long Island is on my TBR list), Colum McCann (Let the Great World Spin, TransAtlantic; Apeirogon broke my brain a little bit but was beautiful and I want to revisit it at some point), and Anne Enright (The Green Road; and I was haunted by The Gathering in college when it was nominated for the Booker Prize). And of course Niall Williams. :) There are probably others! A whole lot of great writing comes out of that small country.
I forgot Oscar Wilde was Irish! Have you read John Boyne? I haven't but hear amazing things about his stuff. I'm looking forward to The Elements by him, releasing in the US this fall.
Yes to everything Irish. *adds to TBR*
Yes to Irish writers. Niall Williams possibly chief among them!
Wow…he’s my favorite Irish writer and I forgot to include This is Happiness!
In fairness there are SO many great Irish writers. But I knew of our shared love of Niall, so it did feel like an oversight

Thanks for the new suggestions!
