Join us in July!
We've got lots of ways to gather at the shop this month
I’ve heard it said that July is like the Saturday of summer, sandwiched between the month when school typically ends and begins (for those of us on a school schedule). If that’s the case, then consider your “Saturday” stacked and join us in July for some of our regular get-togethers and a few not-to-miss special events.
July 3: First Friday
We’ll be open late (till 8 or so) for First Friday, so if you’re in town to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday or have some extra time off for the long weekend, stop in and say “hi!” You can still pick up summer reading challenges for kids and adults, too!
July 10: Sean of the South concert plus meet-and-greet
Sean Dietrich, aka Sean of the South, never fails to attract a crowd when we bring him to Lancaster. Our 7 p.m. concert for July 10 is sold out BUT we are having a meet-and-greet with Sean from 2-3 p.m. on that same day. If you weren’t able to get tickets or have extra time in the afternoon that you won’t have in the evening, swing by and meet Sean. He’ll be signing books, then, too. His works include I Would Walk Five Hundred Miles, Will the Circle Be Unbroken?, Kinfolk, Over Yonder, and The Incredible Winston Browne.
July 11: Writer’s Breakfast
We’ll host our monthly gathering of creative people who don’t mind a little early morning chat at 9 a.m. Bring something to share if you’re able.
July 11: Storytime with Kristina
Kristina Wenger will read Skippyjon Jones by Judy Schachner at 11 a.m. The read-aloud will be followed by a craft of bumblebee pinatas and/or a Skippyjon Jones mask.
July 11: Art Market with Lucy Smucker and friends
If you’ve been in the shop, you’ve seen Lucy Smucker’s art hanging on the walls and adorning some of our cards. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Lucy will be joined by artist friends to showcase all kinds of their work in our Sun Gallery. Stop by to meet these talented artists and take home some unique pieces for your collection.
July 14: The Classics Book Club
Lauren and The Classics Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. to discuss Sula by Toni Morrison.
July 16: The Book Was Better Book Club

July 18: Poet Laureate book signing
